Privacy Policy

1. Information Collected.

By joining Mazree, User voluntarily and willingly provides Mazree certain information, including personally identifiable information, which Mazree collects in order to provide the Services. If User has any hesitation about providing information to Mazree and/or having its information displayed on the Mazree website or otherwise used in any manner permitted in this Privacy Policy and the Terms and Conditions (the “Agreement”), User should not become a member of the Mazree community; and, if already a member, User should close its account.  Terms not defined herein shall have the meaning set forth in the Agreement.

Mazree collects personal information in the following ways:

A. Registration.  In order to become a User, the following information must be provided to Mazree to create an account: name, job title, primary job function, country, state/province, city, e-mail address, and password. Without this minimal amount of information, User cannot create a Mazree account. Like other passwords, User should choose one that is known only by User. Mazree requests other information from User during the registration process, that Mazree uses to provide better, more customized services such as language-specific profile pages and updates, and better ads. User acknowledges that this information is personal to User, and by creating an account on Mazree, User allow others, including Mazree, to identify User and to allow Mazree to use User’s information in accordance with the Agreement.

B. Profile Information.  User may provide additional information to its Mazree Profile describing its business, professional experiences, recommendations from other Mazree subscribers, and group memberships (among other options). Providing additional information about Users business beyond what is minimally required at registration is entirely up to User, but providing additional information enables User to derive more benefit from Mazree and User’s network by helping User build its identity and leverage its network and facilitating User’s search for supplies, resources, information, and new opportunities. Any information User provides at registration or in the Profile section may be used by Mazree as described in the Agreement and this Privacy Policy, including for the purpose of allowing opportunities to find User on Mazree, or for serving more relevant advertisements on Mazree. Learn more about Mazree’s advertising practices by reading this Privacy Policy. If User decides not to share certain information, User may not receive the full benefit of being a Mazree user.

C. Contact Information.  In order to connect with others on Mazree, User may use the Services to send invitations or e-mail addresses of people User knows if they have not registered with Mazree. The names and e-mail addresses of people whom User invites will be used to send User’s invitations and reminders as well as to allow Mazree to help expand User’s network. User’s Mazree connections will also have access to User’s e-mail address if User so designates in its settings. User may not invite anyone it does not know and trust to connect with User.
User may also choose to manually enter or upload data about its contacts to the “Contacts” section of User’s account on Mazree. Information entered into Contacts is only viewable by User. By providing e-mail addresses or other information of non-user to Mazree, User represents that it has authority to do so. All information that User enters or uploads about its contacts is covered by the Agreement and this Privacy Policy and will enable Mazree to provide customized services such as suggesting people to connect with on Mazree.

D. Customer Service.  Mazree collects information when User interacts with Mazree’s customer service in order to accurately categorize and respond to customer inquiries and investigate breaches of Mazree’s terms.

E. Using the Mazree Site and Applications.  Mazree receives information when User interacts with and uses the Mazree website, Mazree Applications (e.g. Mazree for iPhone, Android, etc.), and Mazree platform technology. For example, Mazree knows when User clicks on ads, uploads User’s address book, joins groups, participates in polls, installs a Mazree mobile application, shares articles on Mazree, etc.

F. Using Third Party Services and Visiting Third Party Sites.  Mazree receives information when User uses its Mazree account to log in or authenticate to a third-party website or application. Also, if User is logged into Mazree and visits a third party site that embeds Mazree professional plugins, Mazree will receive information that those pages have loaded in User’s web browser. Mazree will use this information to personalize the Mazree-provided functionality, including providing User insights from User’s Mazree network, allowing User to share information with User’s network, enabling User to use Mazree functionality off the Mazree site and serving User more relevant advertising. Mazree’s retention of this data is addressed below.

G. Cookies.  Like most websites, Mazree uses cookies and web log files to track site usage and trends, to improve the quality of Mazree’s service, to customize User’s experience on Mazree, as well as to deliver Mazree and third-party advertising to subscribers both on and off the Mazree site. A cookie is a tiny data file that resides on User’s computer, mobile phone, or other device, and allows Mazree to recognize User as a user when it returns to the Mazree website using the same computer and web browser. User can remove or block cookies using the settings in its browser, but in some cases doing so may impact User’s ability to use Mazree. One type of cookie, known as a “persistent” cookie, is set once User has logged in to its Mazree account. The next time User visits the Mazree website, the persistent cookie will allow us to recognize User as an existing subscriber so User will not need to log in before using the Services. In order to access or change any of User’s private information (like a credit card number) or to send a message to another subscriber, however, User must log in securely again with User’s password even if User’s computer contains its persistent cookie. Another type of cookie, called a “session” cookie, is used to identify a particular visit to the Mazree website. Session cookies expire after a short time or when User closes its web browser. Other technology like Macromedia’s flash can be used to place the functional equivalent of a cookie on User’s computer. User can control flash “local stored objects” or “flash cookies” using the Macromedia Website Privacy Settings Panel at www.macromedia.com. Mazree may use cookie-equivalent technology for the limited purpose of enhancing the security of Mazree's services. Mazree does not use flash cookies for advertising purposes.

In the course of serving advertisements or optimizing the Services to Mazree’s users, Mazree may allow authorized third parties to place or recognize a unique cookie on User’s browser. Any information provided to third parties through cookies will not be personally identifiable but may provide general segment information (e.g., User’s industry or geography, career field, location of the company and general information about the company that User works with) for the enhancement of User’s user experience by providing more relevant advertising. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies, but User can reset its browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. Mazree does not store unencrypted personally identifiable information in the cookies.

H. Advertising and Web Beacons.  To support the Services Mazree provides at no cost to our users, as well as provide a more relevant and useful experience for our subscribers, Mazree targets and serves our own ads and third-party ads both on and off the site using ad networks. Ad networks include third party ad servers, ad agencies, ad exchanges, ad technology vendors and research firms.

Mazree may target ads to users based on general profile categories or on non-personally identifiable information inferred from a user’s profile (e.g., industry) in addition to a user’s use of Mazree or their clicking on Mazree ad inventory. Mazree does not provide personally identifiable information to any third party ad network.

Mazree may use ad technology such as web beacons, pixels, anonymous ad network tags, and cookies to more effectively serve ads to Mazree’s users on and off Mazree through ad networks, as well as to collect anonymized, aggregated auditing, research and reporting for advertisers. Because User’s web browser requests advertisements and web beacons directly from ad network servers, these networks can view, edit or set their own cookies, just as if User had requested a web page from their site.

I. Log Files, IP Addresses and Information About User Computer and Mobile Device.  Due to the communications standards on the internet, when User visits the Mazree Website, Mazree automatically receives the URL of the site from which User came and the site to which User is going when it leaves Mazree. Additionally, advertisers receive the URL of the page User was on when User clicked on an ad on Mazree. Mazree also receives the internet protocol (“IP”) address of User’s computer (or the proxy server User uses to access the World Wide Web), User’s computer operating system and type of web browser User is using, e-mail patterns, User’s mobile device (including User’s UDID) and mobile operating system (if User is accessing Mazree using a mobile device), as well as the name of User’s ISP or User’s mobile carrier. Mazree may also receive location data passed to it from third-party services or GPS-enabled devices that User has enabled. Also, as described above, Mazree receives information when User accesses web pages containing Mazree interactive plugins. The link between User’s IP address and User’s personally identifiable information is not shared with third parties without User’s permission, except as described below.

J. Rights to Access, Correct and Eliminate Information About User.  User has a right to access, modify, correct and eliminate the data it supplied to Mazree. If User updates any of its information, Mazree may keep a copy of the information that User originally provided to Mazree in our archives for uses documented in this policy. User may request deletion of its information at any time by contacting Mazree customer service. Mazree will respond to User’s request within 30 days. Please note, however that information User has shared with others, or that other subscribers have copied, may also remain visible even if User requests its deletion.

K. Data Retention.  Mazree will retain User’s information for so long as User’s account is active or as needed to provide User services. If User wishes to close its account, User may do so in its Account Settings on the Mazree site. Mazree will retain and use User’s information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce this Agreement.

2. Uses Of Personal Information.

A. Consent to Mazree Processing Information About User.  By providing information to Mazree for the purposes of creating a subscriber account or adding any additional details to subscriber’s Mazree profile, User is expressly and voluntarily accepting the Agreement of this Privacy Policy and the Agreement that allows Mazree to process information about User. Supplying information to Mazree, including any information deemed “sensitive” by applicable law, is entirely voluntary on User’s part. User has the right to withdraw User’s consent to Mazree’s collection and processing of User’s information at any time, in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy and the Agreement, by closing User’s account, but please note that User’s withdrawal of consent will not be retroactive.

B. Mazree Communications.  As described in the Agreement, Mazree will communicate with User through e-mail, notices posted on the Mazree website, messages to User’s Mazree inbox, or through other means available through the service, including mobile text messages. Mazree may send User a series of e-mails that help inform new subscribers about the features of the Services, and Mazree will also send User service messages relating to the functioning of the Services. Mazree may also send User messages with promotional information directly or on behalf of Mazree’s partners, unless User has opted out of receiving promotional information.
If Mazree sends communications to User via the carrier service with which User has a mobile communications subscription or otherwise have access, User understands it will pay any service fees associated with its receipt of messages on its mobile device (including text messaging charges).

C. User Communications.  Many communications User initiates through Mazree (e.g., an invitation sent to a non-user) will list User’s name in the header of the message. Messages User initiates may also provide aggregate information about User’s network (for instance how many people are in its network), but will not list the people to whom User is directly connected. Other communications that User initiates through the Mazree website will list User’s name as the initiator but will not include User’s personal e-mail address contact information. A User’s ability to share its contact information can be managed by the User through its Account Settings.

D. Customized Content.  Mazree uses information User provides to Mazree (or to third parties with whom Mazree offers combined services) to customize User’s experience on our website. For example, when User logs in to its account, Mazree may display the names of new Users who have recently joined User’s network or recent status updates from User’s connections.

E. Sharing Information with Third Parties.  Mazree takes the privacy of our users very seriously, and Mazree does not sell, rent, or otherwise provide User’s personally identifiable information to third parties, except as described in this policy. Mazree will also not share other personal information not published to User’s profile or generated through engagement with other Mazree services without User’s explicit consent or to carry out User’s instructions (for example, to process payment information) unless, disclosure is reasonably necessary in Mazree’s opinion to: (1) comply with legal process, including, but not limited to, civil and criminal subpoenas, court orders or other compulsory disclosures; (2) enforce this Privacy Policy or the Agreement; (3) respond to claims of a violation of the rights of third parties, whether or not the third party is a subscriber, individual, or government agency; (4) respond to customer service inquiries; or (5) protect the rights, property, or personal safety of Mazree, its users or the public.

Mazree may offer a “public profile” feature that allows Users to publish portions of their Mazree profile or the company profile to the public internet. This public profile may be crawled by and displayed through search engines when someone searches for User’s name.  Regardless of whether the “public profile” feature is selected, Mazree reserves the right to publish the names of each company that register with Mazree.  For example, if a User representing XYZ, Inc. registered an account, Mazree may identify XYZ, Inc. as being a User, however, Mazree will not publish any other information with respect to the contact information or contact person for XYZ, Inc. except as otherwise set forth in this Privacy Policy or the Agreement.

Content distributed through Mazree’s sharing features and third party integrations may result in displaying some of User’s information outside of Mazree. For example, when User posts content to a Mazree Forum that is open for public discussion, User’s content, including User’s name as the contributor, may be displayed in search engine results. Or, if User has bound its Mazree account to its Twitter account, User can easily share content into both Mazree as well as to Twitter.

Mazree may provide aggregated anonymous data about the usage of the Services to third parties for purposes that Mazree deems, in its sole discretion, to be appropriate, including to prospective advertisers on Mazree.

F. Polls and Surveys.  Polls and surveys may be conducted by Mazree, its users or third parties. As a user, User may be invited to participate in polls and surveys from the Mazree website. User’s selection may be random, or it may be based on User’s non-personally identifiable information, such as job title, geography, company size and/or industry. Whether or not User decides to participate in a poll or survey is completely up to User.

After User completes a poll, User may be given access to the aggregate responses of the poll on a results page. Some third parties may target advertisements to User on the results page based on User’s answers in the poll. Further, Mazree or third parties may follow up with User via the Message Center regarding User’s participation.

Mazree may use third parties to deliver incentives to User to participate in surveys or polls. If the delivery of incentives requires User’s contact information, User may be asked to provide personally identifiable information to the third party fulfilling the incentive offer, which will only be used for the purpose of delivering incentives and/or verifying User’s contact information. It is up to User whether it provides this information, or whether it desires to take advantage of an incentive.

Mazree will not disclose any personally identifiable information to any third parties in connection with the conduct of any polls or surveys. User’s consent to use any personally identifiable information for the purposes set forth in the poll or survey will be explicitly requested by the party conducting it.

G. Search.  Mazree offers search services to help find information and learn more about other users (for example, User can search for other users that it may know from User’s industry). Mazree’s search also allows User to companies that will help users more effectively use Mazree and expand their network. Mazree use information from user profiles and contributions to the Mazree site to inform and refine its search service.

H. Mazree Forums.  If Users post on Mazree or participate in a Mazree Forum (i.e. Help Forum), User should be aware that any personally identifiable information it chooses to provide there can be read, collected, or used by other users of these forums, as well as platform developers and other third parties, and could be used to send User unsolicited messages. Mazree is not responsible for the information User chooses to submit in these forums. Also, some content from the Mazree Forum may be public and searchable on the internet. User can delete its posts to Mazree Groups at any time. However, please note that ideas User posts and information User shares may be seen and used by other users, and Mazree cannot guarantee that other users have not made copies of or use the ideas and information that User shares with others on Mazree.

I. Testimonials and Advertisements Placed Through Mazree Ads Service.  If User provides any testimonials about the Mazree Services or places advertisements through the Mazree Ads, Mazree may post those testimonials and examples of advertisements User places in connection with our promotion of these services to third parties. Testimonials and advertisements may include User’s name and other personal information that User has provided.

J. Advertising and Endorsements on Mazree.  In order to deliver relevant and valuable ads to User and its network, Mazree may use User’s name and profile photo in connection with social advertising based on content shared on Mazree. This advertising may include the fact that User has recommended or endorsed a product or service on Mazree, connected to a company, established or added content to its profile, etc., and will only be displayed to User’s Mazree network.

K. Compliance with Legal Process.  It is possible that Mazree may need to disclose personal information, profile information and/or information about User’s activities as a Mazree subscriber when required by subpoena or other legal process, or if Mazree has a good faith belief that disclosure is necessary to (a) investigate, prevent or take action regarding suspected or actual illegal activities or to assist government enforcement agencies; (b) to enforce the Agreement, to investigate and defend Mazree against any third party claims or allegations, or to protect the security or integrity of Mazree’s site; and/or (c) to exercise or protect the rights, property or personal safety of Mazree, our subscribers, employees, or others.

L. Disclosures to Others as a Result of a Change in Control or Sale of Mazree.  Mazree may also disclose User’s personal information and other information User provides to another third party as part of a sale of the assets of Mazree, a subsidiary or division, or as the result of a change in control of the company. Any third party to which Mazree transfers or sells its assets will have the right to continue to use the personal and other information that User provides to us.

3. User Information Choices.

A. Accessing and Changing User Account Information.  User can review the personal information it provided to us and make any desired changes to the information it publishes, or to the settings for its Mazree account including its e-mail and contact preferences, at any time by logging in to User’s account on the Mazree website. Please be aware that even after User’s request for a change is processed, Mazree may, for a time, retain residual information about User in its backup and/or archival copies of its database.

B. Default Settings.  Mazree has established what it believes to be reasonable default settings. Because users may use and interact with Mazree in a variety of ways, and because those users may change over time, Mazree designed our settings to provide our users granular control over the information they share. Mazree encourages its Users to review their account settings and adjust them in accordance with their preferences.

C. Closing User’s Account.  User can close its account through the Mazree customer service site. If User closes its Mazree account, Mazree will remove User’s name and other personally identifiable information from our publicly viewable database. If User closes its account, Mazree has no obligation to retain User’s information, and may delete any or all of User’s account information without liability. However, Mazree may retain certain data contributed by User if Mazree believes it may be necessary to prevent fraud or future abuse, or for legitimate business purposes, such as analysis of aggregated, non-personally identifiable data, account recovery, or if required by law. Mazree may also retain and use User’s information if necessary to provide the Services to other subscribers. For example, just as an e-mail User may send to another person through an e-mail service provider resides in that person’s inbox even after User deletes it from its sent files or closes User’s account, e-mails or messages on the Message Center User sends Mazree Forum to other users, as well as User’s contributions to Mazree Forum, may remain visible to others after User has closed its account. Similarly, other information User has shared with others, or that other users have copied, may also remain visible. Mazree disclaims any liability in relation to the deletion or retention (subject to the terms herein) of information or any obligation not to delete the information. Mazree does not control when search engines update their cache, which may contain certain public profile information that has since been removed from Mazree’s publicly viewable database.

4. User’s Obligations.

User has certain obligations to other subscribers. Some of these obligations are imposed by applicable law and regulations, and others have become commonplace in user-friendly communities of like-minded members such as Mazree:

  • User must, at all times, abide by the then-current Privacy Policy and Agreement. This includes respecting all intellectual property rights that may belong to third parties (such as trademarks or photographs).
  • User must not download or otherwise disseminate any information that may be deemed to be injurious, violent, offensive, racist or xenophobic, or which may otherwise violate the purpose and spirit of Mazree and its community of subscribers.
  • User must not provide to Mazree and/or other users information that User believes might be injurious or detrimental to User’s person or to User’s professional or social status.
  • User must keep its username and password confidential and not share it with others.

Any violation of these guidelines may lead to the restriction, suspension or termination of User’s account at the sole discretion of Mazree.

5. Important Information.

A. Children and Minors.  Children under the age of 18 are not eligible to use our service.

B. Changes to this Privacy Policy.  Mazree may update this Privacy Policy at any time, with or without advance notice. In the event there are significant changes in the way Mazree treats User’s personally identifiable information, or in the Privacy Policy document itself, Mazree will display a notice on the Mazree website or send User an e-mail, so that User may review the changed terms prior to continuing to use the site. As always, if User objects to any of the changes to Mazree’s terms, and User no longer wishes to use Mazree, User may close User’s account. Unless stated otherwise, our current Privacy Policy applies to all information that Mazree has about User and User’s account.

Using the Mazree Services after a notice of changes has been sent to User or published on our site shall constitute consent to the changed terms or practices.

6. Security.

In order to help secure User’s personal information, access to User’s data on Mazree is password-protected, and sensitive data (such as credit card information) is protected by SSL encryption when it is exchanged between User’s web browser and the Mazree website. To protect any data User stores on our servers, Mazree also regularly audits its system for possible vulnerabilities and attacks, and Mazree uses a tier-one secured-access data center. However, since the internet is not a 100% secure environment, Mazree cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information User transmits to Mazree. There is no guarantee that information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards. It is User’s responsibility to protect the security of its login information. Please note that e-mails, instant messaging, and similar means of communication with other subscribers of Mazree are not encrypted, and Mazree strongly advises User not to communicate any confidential information through these means. Despite Mazree’s best efforts it is always possible that Mazree’s site could be hacked, breached or otherwise compromised by third parties.  If the Mazree site is hacked, breached or compromised it is possible that confidential information submitted by users could be obtained by third parties, including but not limited to pricing materials that may have been submitted to Mazree Requests.  In the event the Mazree site is hacked, breached or otherwise compromised, Mazree shall not be responsible for any damages or costs incurred by users as a result of such breach.
